More Tips for Summer Hair

SAFEGUARD AGAINST COLOR FADE

The sun has the power to fade just about anything—including your hair color.  If you’re looking for that natural sun-bleached beach look, this can work to your advantage.  But, if your hair has been color-treated, the fading effect of the summer sun is not something that you want to experience.   Switch to a color protecting shampoo and conditioner if you have color-treated hair, and always wear a hat or scarf if you plan to spend long hours outside.

LESS IS MORE

During the summer months, go for natural styles for your hair.   Skip the blow dryer and let your hair air dry naturally instead of subjecting it to high heat from blow dryers  and heat tools that can cause your hair to become brittle and fragile during the dry, hot days of summer.    Always apply a heat protector to your hair before reaching for a curling wand or flat iron, and limit the use of styling products that have a high alcohol content which can be dehydrate your hair.    Doing just a few of these things will protect your hair against moisture loss.

SEEK DAMAGE CONTROL

Hair can get sunburned during the summer just like any other part of your body.  The only way to deal with severely burnt hair is by trimming away the damaged sections and dry split ends.  This makes your hair instantly more manageable and it keeps the damage from traveling up the hair strands, causing even more damage to your hair.
Even if you’re trying to grow your hair out, just a very minimal trim will keep your hair looking healthy without sacrificing the length.
